The effects described here are all positive, since there are no known negative effects from this type of treatment.
1- PURGING OF RESIDUE
The removal of most or all of the contents of the intestines has the following effects
A) This obviously involves a reduction of the total volume of the colon, which means that the pressure it exerts on surrounding organs is eliminated or lessened.
B) By the same token, the intra-abdominal pressure is reduced, thus encouraging the venous return of the lower extremities (cellulitis, varicose veins) and the pelvic region (haemorrhoids) towards the heart.
C) Pressure is also lessened on the hips and especially on the spinal column, easing the articulations with the beneficial effect this creates for the entire column.
D) Whenever there is a pathology related to passage through the intestine, colonic hydrotherapy is essential before starting any other course of treatment. It is often the case that colonic hydrotherapy alone is all that is required to correct constipation or diarrhoea without resorting to pharmaceutical products.
E) Relaxing effect on the organs located higher up: liver, heart, lungs,...
DETOXIFICATION
There are two types of process which occur within the large intestine: Absorption and Elimination
Some drugs, trace elements which remain throughout digestion, useful substances and principally water are absorbed.
Toxins resulting from normal metabolic reactions of the organism and other ingested substances are eliminated.
A problem arises when these processes are reversed and toxins are absorbed, such as the ones already mentioned and also the products of the putrefaction of remains which have persisted in the intestinal tract for too long. The pathological actions on the organs and the bodys regulatory systems are well known.
