Elsewhere on these pages the importance of thorough cleaning of the large intestine in order to keep the organism in an excellent state of detoxification has been pointed out.

In the same vane, it is worth recalling one of the basic principles of Natural Medicine concerning cleaning the colon: it is essential in the preparation for any treatment of chronic pathologies if noticeable positive results are desired.

This is because chronic illnesses, especially if they are over-medicated as is often the case, create changes in the area of the intestine which modify the normal functioning of the colon, with respect to both its evacuation (constipation and diarrhoea) and absorption, with repercussions for other organs and systems.

However, the purpose of this section is to provide some specific examples of treatment, in which the results or the features of the therapy are of particular interest.

Case no. 1: 36 year-old woman

The reason for the consultation was constipation, persistent constipation which had gone on for twenty years.

When asked about other problems, the individual reported none, and complained only of her intestinal condition.

After the first session with nothing to report of, the individual had the second session and a week later when she arrived for the third one, her reply to the standard question asking her how she was – I was referring to her constipation – surprised me:

- Very well, doctor. A few days ago the bones in my ankles came back.

Obviously, it was not that the bones in her ankles had ever gone away, but rather that in two weeks her feet, ankles and legs had gone down in swelling so much that the malleolar ankle bones were once more sticking out beneath the skin.

According to the patient, for many years whenever she had touched her feet she found her skin swollen, edamatous and with so much water retention that the bone contours were hidden, but she was so used to it that she did not think that there could be a solution.

Needless to say that she was delighted. And the regularity of her bowel movements had begun to improve.

The patient was a sportsman with a sensible diet and a healthy lifestyle. Two conditions had brought him to the colonic hydrotherapy clinic at the advice of a natural medicine doctor: a sporadic dull pain in the hepatic flexure of the colon, and a collection of symptoms typical of chronic inflammation of the prostate: pollakiuria, nycturia, etc.

All this could be expected were it not for the fact that he had suffered from both problems since he had been eleven years old.

Rectal examination revealed a prostate of normal size and consistency for his age with no pathological indications, and abdominal exploration gave no result. At one time, after an x-ray, he had been diagnosed as having ‘gases’.

During the second session, through the viewer a whitish object which was somewhat smaller than an olive was seen to be expelled and it banged noisily against the walls of the pipe.

It was followed by four others which went the same way. Although we were surprised by the event, when the patient returned for third session, he came with a happy look on his face:

- Firstly, he told me, I haven’t got up even once to urinate during the night this week and the discomfort has almost entirely gone.

- And as for the pain below the liver, it has gone.

He left the answer to the riddle for the end, which had been provided by his mother – they were five beads from an alabaster necklace which he had swallowed when he was nine years old and which has remained trapped in the hepatic flexure of the colon causing the symptoms mentioned. Naturally, the problem disappeared with the expulsion of the beads by the COLONIC HYROTHERAPY.
